Installed high-res versions of both games system specs are (briefly) as follows: i7 950 (3.0ghz) 16gb ddr3 nvidia 470 gtx no errors installing. Have additionally installed dotnet framework 1.1 (including service pack) - (against os warning) c redist 2008 both launchers don't launch. Double click and nothing. These are the 'invoker' titled.exe's. Running the 'launcher' titled.exe files results in the same behavoir.
Doesn't even show up in process list. Make sure your copy of windows 7 is authentic and successfully validated. I have seen this problem on machines people bring to me for repair. All you can do in that case is buy a legal version. If it is legal and validated.
Run all the critical windows updates and look for anything related to the C redistributable libraries in recommended updates. Give the exe files admin rights. Make sure your video drivers are the most current version (just to be sure. Probably won't affect the launcher, just the game.) Next. Windows 7 Pro and ultimate have the ability to prevent anything that isn't a 'signed executable' from running.
Check to make sure this is disabled. Note that if you are joined to a domain your network administrator may be controlling some of these things by policy (like signed execution) and you may not be able to get the launcher to run. Thanks for the help folks. After looking at the recommended resolutions on the forums. (found a long thread detailing.net framework 1.1 reinstallation) i'm not going to bother. I have 3 systems doing this, and i have no interest in fighting with microsoft version issues, reboots, add-remove programs and insanity just for lotro and ddo.
I'll go play champions or something. Maybe turbine will update their launcher in the future. Seems very silly that they're using directx 10 (or is it 11 now?) in their game code but using a launcher that appears to have not been updated in almost a decade.
Command line: 'C: Program Files (x86) Turbine The Lord of the Rings Online TurbineLauncher.exe' 10:09:10 PM Administrator: False 10:09:10 PM UAC enabled: True 10:09:10 PM On Windows 7/Vista the game should be launched via 'TurbineInvoker.exe' and as such there should be at the end of the Command line a -invoker switch I'm not seeing in your log. That means the launcher isn't running as admin correctly. I would say try running 'TurbineRegisterGDF.exe' (found in 'C: Program Files (x86) Turbine The Lord of the Rings Online') via right-click run as admin. You should just get the 'wait' cursor for a few seconds and then it reverts back. Once that's run make sure you are launching by double-clicking on 'TurbineInvoker.exe' (no real need to choose 'Run as Administrator' unless troubleshooting issues with UAC) and you should get a uac style prompt to allow/supply credentials for.
By the way are you launching from the or a desktop shortcut? If using a shortcut make sure it's not configured to run in 'compatibility mode' or the permanent run as admin option and points to Turbineinvoker.exe and not launcher. If it's still hanging at that point, I'd look into the article (which is for a specific error message, but one of the symptoms of it is to hang at the stage your launchers are getting to) but also make sure that your systems internet security/antivirus isn't doing behavior based protections like heuristic scanning, they might be blocking invoker/launcher from correct functioning if they 'see' them as potential threats and are isolating them when they run. I tried the invoker first, with 0 log data, and no helpful error messages. I fell back to trying the launcher.
I've tried everything you've mentioned so far. Nothing so far has worked. As for the support article you linked me to, it offers nothing helpful. Although i went through it's options. The data in%USERPROFILE% AppData Local Tu rbine The Lord of the Rings Online Launcher is nothing but duplicates of the log that was posted previously by me.
I've also filed a support ticket with turbine, and so far that has been unhelpful as well. I've either already tried the diagnostics requested by support personnel or they've made no difference. I've tried launching the game from the start menu, the desktop, with our without admin, in multiple different compatibility modes (and without) i doubt there's a combination i haven't already tried. Last request by the support tech from turbine was 'clean boot' as they call it. Just a stripped down boot using msconfig. Again, no change.
