The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Training Program, offered by the Department of Biological Sciences, is a 12 month advanced certificate program that enables students to obtain a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) Certificate from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), as well as a California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License issued by the California Department of Public Health. The program is approximately 55 weeks long. Students spend 32 hours a week training on site at one of our hospital affiliates, and 8 hours a week taking part in formal coursework online.
